Privacy Policy

This policy explains how data is used to operate the cinema, accounts and shared viewing.

Effective September 29, 2026

1. Scope

This Policy applies to cinemavr.sbs and CinemaVR client applications (the “Service”). It describes how visitors’ and registered users’ data is processed when they use available Service features.

For questions about data processing or exercising your rights, email support@cinemavr.sbs. The rules for using the Service are set out in the Terms of Service.

2. Data we process

  • Account: email address, display name, internal identifier, securely hashed password, and information needed for sign-in and access management.
  • Profiles: profile names set by the account holder and the selected profile type, including a child profile.
  • Viewing: selected film or episode, playback position, duration, and completion status. This lets you resume viewing where you left off.
  • Rooms and sessions: room name, participants, display names, selected seats, shared playback state, and virtual ticket data. Your display name, seat and participation status may be visible to other participants in the same room.
  • Technical information: IP address, request times, browser or client type, device information, errors and security event logs generated when you access the site or server features.
  • Support requests: a reply address and the information you choose to include in your message.

The Service does not ask you to enter passport details or bank card details for these features. As of this version, paid plans and payment processing have not launched.

3. Why we use this data

We use data to register and sign in users, save preferences and viewing progress, operate rooms and virtual sessions, respond to requests, prevent abuse and resolve technical problems. Processing needed to provide a feature you request is connected to performance of the Terms of Service. In other cases, processing may be based on a legal requirement or separate consent where required.

This Policy does not constitute consent to marketing emails. If that feature is introduced, its terms and the way to give consent will be presented separately.

4. Data on your device

For sign-in and the interface to work, the browser or client may store technical session data. Browser local storage may also keep your selected video display mode and the name you entered for a room; the Quest client may store settings and profiles on the device. You can delete this information through your browser or device settings, but you may then need to sign in or set up the interface again.

5. Who may receive data

Data is accessible only to the extent needed to operate the Service: to hosting and network infrastructure providers, and to people providing technical support on CinemaVR’s behalf. Data may be provided to public authorities where there is a legal basis. Information about room participation is available to other participants within the shared viewing features.

We do not sell personal data. If our processing methods or the providers involved change materially, we will update this Policy.

6. Hosting and security

The site’s static pages are hosted on a server in Finland. When you access them, network and hosting services may receive technical request data, including your IP address. The location of account databases and other user data depends on the server infrastructure for the relevant feature; this Policy does not claim that those databases are located in Russia.

We use technical and organizational measures to protect data, including encrypted connections and access controls. In the server model, passwords are stored as hashes. No method of transmission or storage can guarantee absolute security.

7. Retention

Data is kept for as long as it is needed to operate your account and chosen features, handle requests, maintain security, or meet legal requirements. When there is no longer a basis for processing, data is deleted or anonymized unless the law requires further retention.

To stop using your account, correct your data, or request its deletion, contact support. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account holder before acting on it.

8. Your rights

You may ask for information about the processing of your data, request correction of inaccurate data, restriction of processing or deletion where the law provides for it, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also file a complaint with a competent authority or court.

Send requests to support@cinemavr.sbs. If deleting data needed for an account would make its features unavailable, we will tell you when handling your request.

9. Changes to this Policy

The current version is always available at cinemavr.sbs/en/privacy/. An updated version will show a new effective date. We will communicate material changes affecting users by an available means.
